Eguisheim (German: Egisheim) is a commune in the Haut-Rhin département of Alsace, France, notable for, and largely devoted to, producing Alsace wine of high quality.
The village centre is very picturesque and receives many tourists, as the Alsace “Wine Route” passes the village. German is spoken almost exclusively. The commune was the birthplace of Pope Leo IX on June 21, 1002.
